Scoring

Scoring at CSA

Anyone can score at CSA games.  It can be as simple as counting runs to "tee-ball" scoring to full softball scoring.  All the CSA require is a correctly filled scorecard with final score and registered names of players and umpires.

Scorer Responsibilities

At CSA, team scorers are responsible for these tasks:

  • score the game on behalf of the team.
  • completing the scorecard (home team scorer only)

Learn to Score

The best way to learn is to do it!

Co-score a few games alongside an experienced scorer to get the hang of it.

Scorebooks are not checked or retained by CSA so "tee-ball scoring" is OK to keep track of the runs for and against and compare to opposition scorebook.

Check out our Beginner's Guide to Softball Scoring (Level 0) under DOCUMENTS (app or web).

More info available from Softball Australia including accreditation from Level 1 up.

Scorebooks

Any softball/baseball scorebook (including photocopies or printouts) can be used at CSA.

Scorebooks can be purchased from CSA Canteen or from Fielders or other Softball/Baseball Associations.

In emergencies, a scorebook sheet can be obtained form the bar.

Lineup Books

Use of lineup books are not required in CSA leagues.

Player Statistics

Other than games played, player stats are not recorded by CSA.

Teams are free to count stats for their own use.
